Platt Rushton has been established in Leigh On Sea, Essex for many years. The firm is recognised as one of the leading innovative business & tax advisors in the county.
Our reputation has been achieved by building a relatively small but highly dedicated and well trained team of professionals that has excellent technical support and IT skills. The team is small enough to care but large enough to cope.
We provide a full range of services for both business and private clients from management accounting and outsourcing through to audit and tax compliance, wealth management, strategic planning and business management. Along the way you will also find we do significant amounts of corporate and personal tax planning, estate planning and trust work all of which adds up to an all round service for our clients.
As a firm of Chartered Accountants we are also authorised to carry out audit work and regulated for a range of investment business activities.
Our client base extends the length and breadth of the country and we have many Overseas clients. We have the experience from over 90 years of commercial practice together with our existing varied client base to deal with work from all sectors of the economy. We also currently have particular specialisation in professional practices and property and estate owners. Many of our property clients being based outside the UK. We act as consultants to several of the country’s leading property management companies.

Michael Hallybone F.C.A. (Principal)
Michael qualified in 1976 and after a spell with a City firm decided that professional life outside London would be equally challenging and more rewarding.
Michael is one of the founding members of the practice and specialises in UK and International tax planning for corporate and individual clients. He also advises clients extensively on strategic planning for their businesses.
Michael's passions in life (apart from work!) are good food, good wine & holidaying in Italy.

Andrew Mate F.C.A (Principal)
Andy qualified in 1985 and after a short period with his training firm left to join Michael creating Platt Rushton. In addition to his day to day work on large corporate clients, Andy has a wide experience in acquisitions and mergers, land, property and agricultural issues together with detailed tax planning work.
He is currently focusing on practice development introducing a range of specialist services to new and existing clients.

Duncan Sheekey F.C.A. (Principal)
Duncan qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1984 and is the remaining founder member of Platt Rushton. He specialises in small and medium sized enterprises on all business, advisory and taxation issues. He is also the firms Compliance Partner.
Duncan is the Courses Chairman for the Southend-on-Sea Chartered Accountants Group and also arranges internal and external training courses for the firm.
Duncan is known for his adventurous holidays with many trips to the Arctic regions including setting foot on the North Pole in 2001. Sadly he also attends ALL Southend United football matches.

Graham Powling A.C.A. (Principal)
Graham joined Platt Rushton in 1995, and trained with the firm, qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 2003. Since this time he has continued to develop his professional skills and develop a large portfolio of personal and corporate clients. Graham has headed up our audit department for many years and deals with complex tax compliance matters.
Graham enjoys music and relaxes by strumming his guitar and pretending he's in the Beatles. Having always dreamed of opening the batting for England, Graham enjoys nothing more than the sound of leather on willow on a summer's afternoon.

Tracy Santry F.C.C.A (Manager)
Tracy who has been with the practice since its creation qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 2000 having been qualified as an Accounting Technician for many years prior to that.
Tracy's specialist areas include Property management company accounts and audit, overseas landlord returns, and trust and estate returns. She also manages a portfolio of sub-contractors and personal tax return cases.
Tracy is a founder member of the 'Friends of Nevendon Bushes Local Nature Reserve', and enjoys spending weekends on the reserve as a volunteer conservationist.

Matthew Beard (Manager)
Matthew joined Platt Rushton in 1995. He has experience in financial reporting and audit. He now coordinates the Management Accounting, Bookkeeping VAT and Payroll services provided by the practice, Matthew is also responsible for client support using all the leading computerised financial packages.
He enjoys holidays in the Lake District, hoping one day Platt Rushton will open a Cumbria office.

Piers Otton (Manager)
Piers joined the Company in 1996 and in the time he has been with the Company he has experience of all departments of accountancy, taxation and consultancy work.
Piers now specialises in Limited Company Accounting and Audit work. In addition to managing a portfolio of clients, he has IT experience with both hardware and software issues.
Sport is top of the list of Piers' interests and he particularly enjoys playing tennis and basketball - especially when he wins. When it is time to relax he likes nothing more than a cold beer and good food.
